Waiting for Monada

Dancing the night away

Revellers at Lerato’s Grill House in the township in Bela-Bela sacrificed sleep to wait for house music sensation King Monada, who gave a full-hour performance starting at 02:00, in the wee hours of Sunday 1 December.

Venue owner Lerato Masemola said she was humbled by the patience shown by party-goers, who chose to wait for Monada, and Metro FM deejay, Lerato Kganyago.

The two celebrities were billed for the grand opening of the high-market venue.

King Monada (born Steven Kgatla) triggered a high-intensity craze with his hit song, “Malwede”, which nudged both young and old to pretend to faint whenever the music is played nationwide.

The hit song attracted a series of national awards, among them the 2016 FAME SA Awards and in recent weeks Limpopo’s Lima Award.

Kgatla is arguably the hottest act to have performed in the Waterberg region in recent months.

A former Miss Soweto, Kganyago started her radio career at Jozi FM, and later worked for Metro FM.

Revellers are once again expected to converge at Lerato’s Grill House on Saturday 7 December, for a performance by popular DJ Sumbody Ngwana Daddy.

The celebrity deejay is known for his latest hit, “Monate Mpolaye”, featuring hip-hop sensation, Casper Nyovest and DJ Sumbody.
