Rakgoale tackles poverty in Rooiberg

Limpopo MEC for Social Development Nkakareng Rakgoale visited Rooiberg in the Thabazimbi farming area.

The MEC distributed garden tools and seedlings to a total of 25 households.

During her interaction with the beneficiaries, Rakgoale encouraged rural communities to consider backyard farming as a way of alleviating poverty, and tackling food security.

She also promised the residents that more government programmes will be introduced in the area to address challenges of social ills such as substance abuse, teenage pregnancy and gender-based
violence.

Social Department spokesperson, Witness Tiva, on Monday 25 November told The BEAT that the authorities also distributed food parcels to needy members of the community.
