The venue for the career expo to be presided over by Higher Education and Training Deputy Minister Buti Manamela has been switched.

The venue for the career expo to be presided over by Higher Education and Training Deputy Minister Buti Manamela has been switched.

The expo in Rooiberg was originally scheduled for Itereleng Secondary School.

However, Higher Education and Training spokesperson, Veronica Mohapeloa, said the expo would be hosted in the Rooiberg Community Hall on Saturday 23 November.

She said the objective of the event is meant to showcase career opportunities offered by the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fraternity.

She said the expo is part of the Department of Science and Innovation’s Science Engagement Strategy.

Mohapeloa said learners are encouraged to study mathematics and science, as their port of entry into better career prospects.

Among the exhibitors will be the South African Radio Astronomy Observatory, the South African National Space Agency, the South African Weather Service, the South African Agency for Science and
Technology Advancement, and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research.

Higher education institutions such as the University of Pretoria and University of South Africa will also be part of the stakeholders in attendance.

The Waterberg and Lephalale TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) colleges are expected to provide learners with information about study opportunities offered at these
institutions.

Mohapeloa further said that the Department of Science and Innovation has partnered with the Limpopo Department of Basic Education and the Waterberg District Municipality as Rooiberg is a mining area of platinum, petroleum and coal.
