Mookgophong ECD the best in Waterberg

Pauline Monama from the latter ECD won first prize as the best practitioner in the whole district.

Kedio Child Care in Mogalakwena Municipality came second in the Best ECD Centre category, with Boitumelo Crèche from Bela-Bela coming third and Lillian Nyogi ECD from Modimolle in the fourth place.

Catherine Nobela from Tswelopele Crèche in Bela-Bela was the second best practitioner and Terran Modibedi from Thuto Bokamoso third.

The announcement was made during the Department of Social Development’s Waterberg District Award ceremony for Early Childhood Development Centres, held on Wednesday 13 November at Shangri-la Country Hotel and Spa.

The event, aimed at celebrating those doing outstanding work at the facilities, was held under the theme; building a caring society together.

Four-year-olds Lerato Nkuna from Modimolle’s Phagameng Crèche, and Ofentse Molomo from Bela-Bela’s Boitumelo Crèche, joined Mohlaloga Moloto from Mkopane FM, as programme directors.

Winners walked away with certificates and trophies.

In her keynote address, Modimolle-Mookgophong Mayor Marlene van Staden, said that South Africa will only defeat the socio and economic challenges through consistent investment in education.

Van Staden further congratulated the department for the efforts, saying that they have done wonders in supporting the early childhood development centres and children in communities.
