Traffic authorities round off Transport Month

Traffic authorities from across the Waterberg rounded off Transport Month activities in Bela-Bela on Thursday 31 October.

Traffic authorities from across the Waterberg rounded off Transport Month activities in Bela-Bela on Thursday 31 October.

A joint operation to close off the month was held by the Waterberg Traffic office in partnership with various stakeholders on the day.

Proceedings were presided over by the Bela-Bela Mayor Jeremiah Ngobeni.

The other stakeholders included, among others, SAPS, Warmbaths Taxi Association (WATA) and the traffic authorities.

Waterberg Deputy Director for Traffic Law Enforcement and Road Safety, Simon Kekana, said the operation was aimed at sensitizing road-users about road safety ahead of the festive season.

He added that they also aimed to remind road users about the consequences of contravening the law on the roads, emphasizing that if one is found on the wrong side of the law, that road user
will be prosecuted.

Over 200 vehicles were stopped and searched during the operation, with a total of 24 summonses issued.

“We are on the verge of ushering in the festive season. November is a pre-festive season period, while December is the festive season, and January the post-festive season,” he said.
