Waterberg tourism facilities win awards

Different kinds of tourism facilities in the Waterberg made the region proud when they won the 7th annual Limpopo Lilizela Tourism Awards, held in Polokwane recently.

The theme of the World Tourism Organisation this year was; “Tourism and Jobs: A better future for all”.

Limpopo Economic Development and Tourism (LEDET) MEC, Thabo Mokone, said all should be obsessed with one idea that is, how to make the theme practical for the entire twelve months until another
theme next year.

The Provincial leg of the Lilizela Tourism Awards aim to recognize the best in tourism.

He further said the Lilizela Tourism Awards are an opportunity to celebrate professionalism, creativity and innovation in the industry.

Various facilities in the Waterberg scooped different category prizes.

Backpacking and Hostelling Modimolle Funky Stay Backpackers made the list, together with Bela-Bela’s Sondela Nature Reserve Caravan Park (two categories).

The latter did well in the categories of Camping and Caravanning, and Country House. Another Bela-Bela facility, the ATKV Holiday Resort Caravan Park won in the Self-Catering Exclusive
category, with Mabula Share Block Companies Partnership in Self-Catering and Shared Vacation, and Palala Boutique Game Lodge and Spa from Lephalale in the Game Lodge category.
