ANC to pay special attention on Waterberg REC

ANC deputy general-secretary Jessie Duarte has been pounding the sidewalks trying to broker a solution to organisational disputes in the Waterberg and elsewhere.

ANC deputy general-secretary Jessie Duarte has been pounding the sidewalks trying to broker a solution to organisational disputes in the Waterberg and elsewhere.

But neither Duarte nor the provincial structure is saying much.

In a carefully-worded statement the provincial leadership said that it would pay special attention “on the developments of a political programme in the region (Waterberg).”

ANC Limpopo PEC spokesperson, Donald Selamolela, said that these will include uniting the regional executive committee, reviving organisational structures and a comprehensive political
education program.

“Following a series of meetings between the ANC National Dispute Resolution Committee (NDRC) and the PEC, regarding the political climate in the Waterberg Region, and the Mogalakwena Municipality in particular, it has been agreed that the situation requires an urgent political intervention,” he said.

He said the series of meetings led by the Duarte resolved that the PEC should act diligently and speedily, on measures that have been identified to restore “the political decorum” of the
organisation in the region.

The meetings further resolved that the PEC will review all sub-committees in the region including PEC deployees, without further delay.

On the issue of Mogalakwena Local Municipality, the meeting noted that the authority of the Political Management Team and the Executive Committee has “collapsed” and therefore requires an
urgent review.
