Municipality greenest of them all

The Bela-Bela Local Municipality was on Friday 27 September declared the greenest in the Waterberg.

The event to honour local municipalities was hosted by the Limpopo Department of Tourism, during a special ceremony held in the Polokwane capital.

The award means the Bela-Bela Local Municipality will now advance to the provincial finals, to compete with various other municipalities from across the province.

Municipal spokesperson Kabelo Mosito said officials from the provincial department were expected to arrive in Bela-Bela for assessments on Monday 11 November and Tuesday 12 November.

He said officials were to assess the municipality’s water conservation, landscaping, waste management and public participation.

The Municipality was awarded R35 000 in prizemoney during the regional contest.
