Modimolle community rejoices with Hlupi Lehong

The community of Modimolle and the surrounds came together on Saturday, 28 September to celebrate with well-known resident Hlupi Lehong and his wife Grace, on their 19th wedding anniversary.

The community of Modimolle and the surrounds came together on Saturday, 28 September to celebrate with well-known resident Hlupi Lehong and his wife Grace, on their 19th wedding anniversary.

The event was held at the Lehong residence in Phomolong, Modimolle.

Lehong, who is a former goalkeeper-cum-referee, is known across the Limpopo province as a member of the South African Football Association (SAFA) Regional Executive Committee (REC) in the
Waterberg.

He is also the chairperson of the Modimolle-Mookgophong Local Municipality and employed by the Modimolle-Mookgophong Municipality as a driver.

The who’s who of the local football fraternity, the business sector and Modimolle-Mookgophong Local Municipality staff were among the guests who attended the event.

SAFA Limpopo secretary Pat Seema, Waterberg Men’s Regional League manager Degracious Mfolo and the founder of Bela Bela Academy Samuel Modise, were present as one of their own was rejoicing in his long-standing union.

On the business side, the prominent Maremane family known for their taxi businesses were represent by local businessmen who are also friends of Lehong, Tsongo Maremane and Joe Maremane.

From the municipality’s side, Solid Waste Management divisional manager, Edwin Mogwane, attended the event alongside several other colleagues.

Mogwane described Lehong as one person who is dedicated to serving his own community.

On a lighter note, he told the audience that Lehong has a great sense of humour and likes sharing a joke from time to time.

Lehong, who was often overwhelmed with emotion when he gave his speech, thanked the community of Modimolle and the surrounding areas for their support and presence.

Local comedy ensemble Bo Madala featuring Midos entertained the audience during the event.
