A number of people interviewed in the streets of Bela-Bela feel the community appear to have given up on the abuse of the nyaope substance by many youngsters.

Resident Samuel Modise feels the same. “When are we going to stand up against nyaope and drug abuse … when are we going to say enough is enough? Our community deserves better,” he charged.

Thapelo Mamabolo made the damning allegation that some members of the SAPS worked hand-in-hand with drug dealers.

Tshiamo Raborolo believes more needed to be done to fight the scourge of nyaope.

He said members of the community needed to stand up and confront the police about their alleged involvement in protecting drug dealers.

Kulca Monareng thinks the community is not doing enough.

“Our community is not united. We have to work together to fight this evil thing,” he said.
