Bela-Bela’s Zuma View residents welcome Themba Godi

African People’s Convention (APC) leader, Themba Godi, has finally honoured his long-standing promise to touch base with residents of Bela-Bela’s Zuma View.

African People’s Convention (APC) leader, Themba Godi, has finally honoured his long-standing promise to touch base with residents of Bela-Bela’s Zuma View.

Godi is better known as the now outgoing but long-serving chairperson of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa).

Residents brought to the attention of Godi their stalemate with the Bela-Bela Local Municipality.

Central to the issues is a court order which ruled that the area is inhabitable and a danger zone, with the potential for flooding during rainy weather.

The residents asked Godi to engage the municipality on their behalf, to find out if the authorities are willing provide fundamental services such water, electricity, proper roads and
sanitation.

In his response, Godi observed that it appeared the Bela-Bela Local Municipality did not have the capacity to relocate the residents.

On Godi’s advice, the residents constituted themselves into a steering committee.

He promised further engagements with the committee on Saturday 7 September.

Plans were also underway to establish a PAC branch in Bela-Bela, a process being facilitated by Waterberg APC leader, Jerry Mogotle.
