Medals galore for Maope Secondary School sparks

A total of three learners from Maope Secondary School in Bela-Bela won their school a special place in the Eskom Science Expo national competition, when they brought home awards.

A total of three learners from Maope Secondary School in Bela-Bela won their school a special place in the Eskom Science Expo national competition, when they brought home awards.

This follows an event that was held at the Mokopane Multipurpose Centre on Wednesday 7 August.

Grade 9 learner, Joseph Tlhwaele, was awarded a silver medal, while Grade 12 learner, Alfred Mmako, and Grade 11 learner, Arelebogeng Tsweleng, were awarded gold medals each.

The Science Expo is about learners presenting their science or engineering projects, in the competition, which is sponsored by Eskom.

The project is done by one or two learners in a school.

Maope Secondary School had seven projects, with three of the done by one learner each.

The other four projects were presented in pairs.

From the Bela-Bela Circuit, Raeleng Secondary School was the other school which also took part in the competition with two projects.

Maope Secondary School was also awarded a trophy sponsored by IvanPlats Mining Company, for the best Engineering Project in the Waterberg District.
