The teaching staff at Bela-Bela’s Maope Secondary School gathered to do something special for the learners on Thursday 8 August.

Both male and female educators donated money from their own pockets and bought hampers for 40 lucky female learners and sanitary towels for any learner who might need them during the course of the year.

The school held a Women’s Day event on Thursday 8 August to distribute the hampers, and impress on the learners that anyone who is in need of the sanitary towels should engage her respective
classroom educator.

Janine Botha from Partners for Possibilities and Apostle Dimakatso Thema of the Antioch River Church in Bela-Bela attended the event, and also added to the donations.

The learners were divided into groups, according to their grade level and addressed on different aspects of life including gender equality, healthcare, self-esteem, careers, teen pregnancy and
other burning issues.

School principal Magdalene Laka said they divided the learners according to the topics suiting their age and classes and they all responded well.

Partners for Possibilities is an NGO using school principals and their partners to improve schools.
