Following the retaining of Ward 4 in Modimolle/Mookgophong after the by-elections, Limpopo ANC secretary described this as a step in the right direction towards reclaiming the municipality from the Democratic Alliance.

“Our journey to 2021 municipal elections has started earnestly where we will return the dignity of our residents by reclaiming Modimolle/Mookgophong from clueless parties,” he said.

The residents of Ward 4 in Mookgophong recently went to the polls to vote for their new councillor, after the position became vacant when former councillor Sarah Monyamane was sworn in as a
member of the provincial legislature.

ANC Limpopo Secretary Soviet Lekganyane said his party was humbled by the affirmation it received from voters, who he said still had faith in the organisation.

“We are greatly humbled by the affirmation we received from the voters, who made a bold statement that the ANC is the only party with both a plan and a vision to improve the living conditions of our people, in townships and villages,” Lekganyane said.

Lekganyane said the new councillor, Elvis Ramogale, will work tirelessly with communities to ensure that residents are provided with proper houses, clean water, roads and jobs.

“We thank all the voters in ward 4 for showing confidence in the ANC and we wish them a fulfilling Women’s Month,” he added.

The position for councillor was contested for by the African National Congress (ANC), Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) and Mookgophong Party, with the Democratic Alliance (DA) opting not to take part.
