Modimolle-Mookgophong gets new computers

Following the purchase of 10 new computers by the Modimolle-Mookgophong Municipality, Mayor Marlene Van Staden said she believed service delivery to local residents will be improved.

Van Staden said the computers that were replaced, have been purchased seven years ago.

“The computers we replaced dated back from before 2012 and were no longer functioning optimally, hampering the officials in their work,” she said.

The 10 computers were distributed among various departments within the municipality, in both Modimolle and Vaalwater.

The departments which received an upgrade include enquiries, cashiers, data capturers and the town-planning department, and also customer care.

The mayor said these computers have been loaded with the updated software and the officials have already received training to keep up with the latest technology.

“We believe this expense will not only improve the revenue collection ability of the municipality, but will also help towards ensuring that residents have shorter waiting times when they have to engage with the municipality,” she said.

Van Staden said the old computers will be distributed to other officials, or auctioned off before the end of the year.
