Police officers who went on a routine round to arrest an assault suspect stumbled into more than what they bargained for; sachets and bagsful of dagga at a street value of R40 000.
Bela-Bela police spokesperson, Sergeant Frans Maponya, said Ryan Alexandra Robson (30) was arrested on a farm in Noodhulp outside Bela-Bela.
He said initially a complainant had opened a case of assault against him.
Robson appeared briefly before the Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court on Friday 5 July.
He remained in custody and is expected to appear again in court on Friday 12 July for a formal bail application.
