The late former General Secretary of the United Nations Kofi Annan once said “there is no tool for development more effective than the empowerment of women”.

The Modimolle-based non-profit organisation, Heaven’s Princess, has decided to walk the talk by hosting an event which serves to empower young women with knowledge.

A three-day event dubbed “A Modern Day Ruth Camp” will be hosted at ATKV Klein-Kariba Holiday Resort from Friday 21 June untill Sunday 23 June.

The aim is to empower young women with knowledge relating to making the right choices when it comes to relationships and ultimately marriage.

Heaven’s Princess founder Boinette Selokela said among other objectives of the camp is to encourage young women to wait for the right life partner, before engaging in relationships.

“During the camp we will also focus on the importance of building good relationships with your in-laws once married. Women will be encouraged to be loyal to their in-laws once they get married,” she said.

The event theme “A modern day Ruth” was borrowed from the Biblical story of a young woman named Ruth, who remained loyal to her mother-in-law even in tough times.

In another event which also serves to empower young women, Modimolle-based non-profit organisation Paul Dave Foundation will host young women at the Modimolle Town Library on Saturday, 8 June.

Paul Dave foundation was founded by Modimolle born and bred young woman, Karabo Mokgosi.
