Martha Moloatshe crowned Miss Phagameng

Phagameng High School learner Martha Moloatshe wowed the audience, as well as the judges at the Miss Phagameng 2019 beauty pageant, on Saturday 13 April.

The contest was held at Phagameng Township’s Peter Nchabeleng Community Hall, with the locals coming out in numbers to witness the reawakening of a contest which had last been staged more than a decade ago.

The first princess was Hoërskool Nylstroom learner, Kgahlisho Mothoa.

Another Phagameng High School learner Itumeleng Boshielo was crowned second princess.

Moloatshe said she never had imagined a day when she would be crowned Miss Phagameng 2019, and expected to be a role model to fellow young girls in her community.

“I am so excited, but at the same time a bit nervous. I know that I have a huge responsibility on my shoulders. Difficult as it might be, I am willing to accept this challenge and do what is
expected of me,” he said.

Host Karabo Mokgosi said while thinking about ideas on how she can reach out to young girls, the event’s organising committee saw it fit to do so through a beauty pageant.

Mokgosi said the newly-crowned Miss Phagameng will work hand in glove with her Non-Profit Organisation, Paul Dave, through many of its programmes which will be targeted at young people.

“I would like to thank the community for their support, including members of the public, judges and everyone who sponsored the event,” he said.
