The police in Pienaarsrivier are looking for three suspects who attempted to hijack a truck in the early hours of Thursday 28 February.

Pienaarsrivier SAPS spokesperson, Warrant Officer Maxwell Nkanyane, on Tuesday 5 March said the truck driver alleged he was hijacked by three suspects travelling in a Silver Mercedes Benz getaway vehicle.

The truck driver alleged he was driving along the N1 North past the Carousel tollgate when the suspects fired four shots at the truck.

Nkanyane explained the truck driver alleged he was forced to stop.

The driver further alleged the suspects forced him off the driver’s seat, and that one of the suspected hijackers took over the driving.

A distance away the truck’s engine malfunctioned and stopped close to the Maubane on-ramp.

“The suspects fled the scene in the getaway vehicle, leaving the driver inside the truck. Nothing was taken from the truck and the victim sustained a minor injury on the arm,” Nkanyane said.

He said the suspects were still at large.
