Recurring and often deadly road accidents on the N1 near Kranskop were part of the discussions on the occasion of the ANC Provincial Lekgotla.

The summit was held at Bela-Bela’s Klein Kariba Resort from Sunday 3 February to Tuesday 5 February.

Delegates resolved that the authorities would be engaged to build an island between the freeway’s opposite lanes to prevent further carnage on the road.

ANC Limpopo spokesperson, Donald Selamolela, said in a statement the leadership should ensure that there are no more further delays in the proposal.

Furthermore, the lekgotla noted that on the roads infrastructure, there should be adequate communication with constituencies in all projects that are delayed or halted.

The delegates resolved that the provincial government should also conclude the partnership with Waterberg Joint Venture project to construct the roads between Senwabarwana and Steiloop in
Mokopane.

“There should be consequences in all projects where communities are denied access to running services,” the statement further reads.
