A community meeting hosted by the Modimolle-Mookgophong Municipality was brought to a chaotic standstill last week after upset business people made their grievances known.

The meeting, which took place on Wednesday 6 February, was brought to an abrupt end by about 20 members of the group who insisted that tenders and sub contracts be given to local businesses.

The gates to municipal offices were closed until Friday 8 February as the group allegedly prevented staff from continuing with their tasks.

The municipality sought help from the Polokwane High Court on Friday and was granted an urgent interdict prohibiting the group from interfering with municipal duties.

According to the court order, the group is not allowed on any municipal property or to intimidate staff members.

They are not allowed to meet within two kilometres of any municipal buildings.
