Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi has decided to adopt Bela-Bela’s Maope Secondary School, following challenges he observed first-hand at the school on Monday 28 January.

Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi has decided to adopt Bela-Bela’s Maope Secondary School, following challenges he observed first-hand at the school on Monday 28 January.

The Minister touched base with educators and learners on the school’s premises on Monday 28 January.

Nxesi’s visit was aimed at spearheading the back-to-school campaign at various schools in Bela-Bela.

Bela-Bela is the minister’s parliamentary constituency.

He also used the platform to urge first-time voters to register for the forthcoming general elections, scheduled for the month of May.

“Part of my responsibility here today is to encourage those learners who are at the voting age to register at IEC offices. The final registration weekend might be over, but the IEC offices are
open for business going forward,” Nxesi said.
