Police promise to attend to family

The family of a Bela-Bela murder victim has expressed frustration regarding investigations into the case.

The 23-year-old Linda Baloyi from the township’s Extension 5 died after being allegedly assaulted by her boyfriend.

The deceased’s grandmother, Girly Baloyi, visited The BEAT offices on Monday 21 January, saying she was concerned about the investigations.

Linda Baloyi died at the Bela-Bela Hospital in December last year.

Her grandmother said she learnt about the tragedy when a family member summoned her to the hospital to identify the body.

The BEAT contacted the Bela-Bela Detectives’ Commander, Lieutenant-Colonel Abel Phetla to shed light on the matter.

He said the investigating officer was on leave and that he would personally attend to the matter and communicate with the family in due course.
