Stolen grader still not found

It has been a full two months since the brazen theft of an earth-moving grader from the works department in Bela-Bela, but still there is no sign of the vehicle.

It has been a full two months since the brazen theft of an earth-moving grader from the works department in Bela-Bela, but still there is no sign of the vehicle.

Bela-Bela Local Municipality spokesperson, Kabelo Mosito, said on Tuesday 27 November there has not been any contact from the police in this regard.

“We have not received any information from the police or anyone about the whereabouts of the grader,” he said.

In what can only be described as tenderpreneurship at its most brazen brilliance, thieves surprised security guards at the works department on Tuesday 9 October.

At the time Bela-Bela detectives’ commander, Lieutenant Abel Phetla, said the suspects held the security guards at gunpoint.

When the suspects were satisfied the guards were under control, they summoned a standby getaway truck to transport the huge loot.

The matter was being investigated by the vehicle theft unit in neighbouring Modimolle.
