While earlier in the week the Weather Service forecast moderate to heavy rains for large parts of the Waterberg, in Phagameng there was no joy over the gathering of the rain clouds.

As recent as Sunday 18 November, young and old were spotted across the township pushing wheelbarrows, some women carrying jerry cans atop their heads, and the odd supermarket trolley
transporting plastic containers.

All these people were linking up with mobile water tankers dispatched by the municipality to provide water to affected areas.

Some of the residents were seen drawing water from the graveyard situated behind a local mall, and also from the downtown minibus taxi rank.

On Monday 19 November, Modimolle-Mookgophong Mayor Marlene van Staden could not confirm or deny reports that some of the water trucks were damaged, allegedly by impatient residents crying out for supplies.
