Festival to raise funds for Mabena

The community of Modimolle has closed ranks to raise funds for athletics wonderboy William Mabena, who was expected to jet to the US on a scholarship next year.

Disc jockeys from across the Limpopo province have responded to a clarion call to join the fund-raising initiative, in the form of a Modimolle Bnefit Concert scheduled for the local Ephraim
Mogale Stadium on Saturday 1 December.

The Hoërskool Nylstroom learner was invited abroad on the strength of his blistering pace on the track and field.

Mabena was expected to depart for the US city of Snyder in Texas, on Friday 4 January.

The organsiers said a line-up of celebriries had committed to support the event, namely Thuli Phongolo who goes by the screen name “Namhla” on the SABC’s soapie Generatoons The Legacy,
Capricorn FM’s Nduduzo Mathambo, Thobela FM’s Sebasa Mogale and Kwena Makgakga, Metro FM’s Prudence Mathebula, DJ Kenny Dee, Mobidixon and Modimolle’s popular TRV Band.

Tickets for the event cost between R80 and R350 (VIP).
