Ignite Hope brings hope

Christmas came early for some of the patients at Bela-Bela Hospital when the Ignite Hope initiative members recently visited the institution to spread goodwill.

The non-governmental organisation brought clothing and fruit for some of the identified patients.

According to Mpumi Ngomane, the founder of Ignite Hope, the objective of the visit was to make a difference in the community.

She said the visit to Bela-Bela Hospital was necessitated by a situation whereby many patients did not receive visitors.

The challenge of non-visits for many patients at public hospitals was caused by, among others, lack of funds and often long distances which had to be travelled.

The hospital authorities would be engaged to formulate a way through which these neglected patents could receive regular visits from the NGO.

Bela-Bela Hospital head of communications, Buti Moagi, said the authorities agreed the initiative was necessary.

“It was a joyful day as we managed to put a smile on those patients’ faces,” Ngomane said.

The local Fruit and Veg store, and the township’s Chisanyama outlet, made contributions towards the initiative.
