Two vehicles, a sedan carrying six occupants, including a 10-year-old child, and a bakkie with three occupants, collided head-on.

All six occupants from the sedan lost their lives at the scene, with the three from the bakkie having been rushed to the Phodi Clinic (formerly St. Vincent Hospital) in Bela-Bela, to be
treated for serious injuries.

Modimolle police spokesperson, Warrant Officer James Findlay, said the cause of the accident was still unknown.

He said both the vehicles were towed to the local police station premises for further investigations.

Findlay added the sedan was travelling from Tembisa, in Ekurhuleni, to Polokwane, while the bakkie was headed for Pretoria.

The deceased, he said, were all positively identified by their relatives.
