Taxi suspect nabbed in Modimolle

The police in Modimolle have arrested a suspect in connection with a case of the possession of suspected stolen property.

The police in Modimolle have arrested a suspect in connection with a case of the possession of suspected stolen property.

This follows an incident on Saturday 20 October in Phagameng Township.

Modimolle police spokesperson, Warrant Officer James Findlay, said Captain Michael Motadi was on patrol in the township with his team when they saw a suspicious taxi and tried to stop it.

He said the taxi sped off and the patrol squad gave chase.

Findlay further said that the taxi stopped in the vicinity of bushes, with three occupants fleeing on foot.

Findlay said the police gave chase on foot and managed to arrest one of the suspects.

In the taxi, the police confirmed they found two allegedly stolen motorbikes, three quad-bikes, linen and cutlery.

Findlay said the suspect was expected to appear again before the Modimolle Magistrate’s Court on Monday 29 October.

His first appearance was on Monday 22 October.
