Waterberg politician to lead portfolio committee

Waterberg politicioan Tolly Mashamaite made the cut on the Limpopo legislature’s Chairpersons of Portfolio Committees constituted by the Office of the Chief Whip.

Chief Whip Falaza Mdaka recently presented the reconstitution of committees and members following the changes and adjustments made in various portfolio committees.

Mashamaite, who is the ANC’s latest addition to the legislature, is now chairperson of the committee on ethics and members’ interests.

The Waterberg politician joined the legislature after serving as ANC Waterberg regional secretary.

Former ANC Women’s League Limpopo chairperson, Maite Marutha, is now the chairperson of the committee on petitions and public participation.

Former MEC for Education, Dickson Masemola, replaced Soviet Lekganyane as the new chairperson of the portfolio committee on treasury.

Masemola was previously with transport, safety, security and liaison, while Lekganyane is now the ANC Limpopo provincial secretary.

Former MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Meriam Ramadwa, becomes the new chairperson of the portfolio committee on transport, safety, security and liaison.

ANC caucus chair Phuti Lekganyane said the reconfiguration was necessitated by changes and resignations in the legislature.
