Support for Modimolle centre

Non-profit establishment, Organisation Hands On (OHO), together with its strategic partners made a positive difference in the lives of children living with disabilities in Modimolle, on Friday 7 September.

The good cause was done on Casual Day, a day which serves to raise awareness and to accumulate funds for persons living with disabilities.

Members from other organisations including Hands of Hope and the Department of Social Development joined the fun walk, which started at the Sedideng Happy Angels Centre and ended at Modi Mall.

The social development officials wore T-shirts displaying the message “Be an everyday hero”, to show their support for persons living with disabilities.

Through this national campaign, members of the public are encouraged to contribute financially through a small donation of R10 for a sticker.

The day also serves as an advocacy for people living with disabilities, to be given the same treatment as everyone else within communities.

Back in Modimolle, the centre received a generous donation which included a water tank, four doors, a gas stove, tables, chairs and blankets from OHO.

“Thanks for the generous contribution from our strategic partners in community-building, we were able to make a positive difference,” Makgetha said.

Makgetha said they felt Sedibeng Happy Angels Centre needed help to revamp the building that they have recently occupied.

“Now, more than ever, South Africa needs people to dig deep inside themselves, find the hero within and be an everyday hero to persons with disabilities,” he added.
