Waterberg ANC politician Tolly Mashamaite was on Wednesday 8 August sworn in as a Member of the Provincial Legislature in Limpopo.

He was welcomed with whistles and ululations by the ANC caucus.

Mashamaite was sworn in to fill a vacancy created by the redeployment of former Limpopo CoGHSTA MEC, Soviet Lekganyane.

Lekganyane was recently elected as the provincial secretary of the ANC, a portfolio which required that he work full-time for the organisation.

Mashamaite was also elected into the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) of the ANC in Limpopo, at the same conference that Lekganyane was elected secretary.

Mashamiate rose through the ranks of the ANC Youth League to become chairperson of the ANC in the Mogalakwena sub-region.

The ANC legislature chief whip, Falaza Mdaka, said in a statement that Mashamaite brings with him a wealth of political and governance experience.
