Working on Fire (WoF) has recently recruited a new group of 20 firefighters from across the Waterberg.

Several of the recruits hailed from Bela-Bela and Rooiberg.

WoF Limpopo spokesperson, Matema Gwangwa, said this was done as part of the strategic plan for the 2018 winter fire season.

The firefighters were collected from their respected recruitment bases on Wednesday 18 July to attend full training on firefighting at the Nelspruit Academy in Mpumalanga.

“These firefighters have now been sent for training on fire suppression as well as other integrated fire management services,” Gwangwa said.

“They will be at Mbombela for the duration of 25 days and will also be trained for other courses such as computer skills and personal finance, amongst others”.

On their return, the firefighters will be dispatched at the Thabazimbi’s Marakele base, as well as the Rooiberg and Bela-Bela’ Sondela base, where they will be ready to respond to the call for
fires when required to do so.
