Bela-Bela police officers honoured
The Limpopo province of the SAPS on Friday 13 July conferred medals on five officers stationed in Bela-Bela for selfless service of upwards of 30 years.
The Limpopo province of the SAPS on Friday 13 July conferred medals on five officers stationed in Bela-Bela for selfless service of upwards of 30 years.
The officers included station commissioner, Colonel Lindie Marx, who received a medal for 30 years of selfless service.
The parade was held at the local Sunfa Stadium.
Others who were awarded included Bela-Bela SAPS crime prevention unit commander, Lieutenant-Colonel William Ngobeni, who was also conferred with a medal for 30 years of selfless service.
Local detetives, Captain George Lebese and Captain Dolph Smith, were also honoured for serving the police for 30 years.
Another detective, Bela-Bela SAPS Warrant Officer Tshitsha Sithole, was also honoured.
Bela-Bela Mayor Jeremiah Ngobeni, as well as Waterberg District mayoral committee member, Freddy Hlungwane, graced the occasion.
Limpopo SAPS provincial commissioner, Lieutenant-General Nneke Ledwaba, his deputies, Major-General Jan Scheepers and Major-General Christinah Morakaladi, presided over the awards and parade.
The awards were conferred against the backdrop of a joint colourful parade by, among others, the dog unit, mounted police and those from motorbike patrols, backed up by the police brass band.
