Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga urged people of Bela-Bela, young and old, to go back to school and get a matric certificate.

The minister said this during an event aimed at informing people, especially the youth, about the second chance for matriculates.

The event was held at the Bela-Bela Community Hall on Sunday 17 June.

During her address, the minister spoke about the importance of having a matric certificate, adding it opened doors in life.

“We all come from disadvantaged families and community backgrounds …we all make mistakes during our schooling years, but no situation must be allowed to prevent any citizen from completing their qualifications,” she said.

She said education was the key to open up opportunities in the workplace.

“Young people often do not like it when we preach to them about the importance of education, daring we bore them, or that we talk too much.,” she said.
