The SAPS in Modimolle has again participated in the annual national corporate social investment event, Take A Girl Child To Work Campaign.

This year, the police force recently hosted four girls from Solomon Mhulangu High School and Phagameng High School, who were taken to various units of the SAPS.

The latter units included the K9 (former Dog Unit), cluster office, Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit and the broader local police station.

The girls showed excitement after spending the day interacting with officials and management from all the offices they visited, saying they had learned a lot from the experience.

The Take A Girl Child To Work campaign is an annual national event, taking place on the last Thursday of May since 2003.

State institutions and public sector companies taking part in the campaign host female learners, usually from their local communities, to spend the day at their place of work.

Meanwhile, the police wrapped up the Child Protection Week activities by visiting the Klein Treetjies crèche in Modimolle town as part of their celebrations.

Modimolle police spokesperson Warrant Officer James Findlay said the aim of their event was to teach the little ones about safety in general, and how to keep themselves safe when alone at home.
