New acting CFO appointed

A new acting Chief Financial Officer (CFO) was appointed during a special council meeting of the Modimolle- Mookgophong Municipality on Tuesday 27 February.

The appointment of the current manager of expenses, Moloko Matlala as acting CFO, follows Dr. Melusi Mhlang’s resignation.

According to the mayor, Marlene van Staden, they hope to appoint a new CFO by April 1. The closing date for applications was on Friday, February 17 and a short list is being compiled.

During the meeting, the adjusted budget was also approved.

“We have made some adjustments where funds were reallocated internally to projects which need more funds to be completed. An example of this is the roads project in Extension 10 in Phagameng where a new contractor needs to be appointed.”

According to Van Staden, the municipality has applied for funds from the government to specifically repair roads and potholes as many roads are in very bad condition. The municipality will receive feedback from the government on whether their application was successful by April 1.
