Dagga worth thousands found in house

The police in Vaalwater arrested a 33-year-old man at a house in Leseding Extension 2 after they found 2,8 kg of dagga in the house.

The street value of the drug is estimated to be R7000. An undisclosed amount of cash, believed to be the proceeds of crime, was found stashed in a drawer, according to provincial spokesperson, Col Malesela Ledwaba.

The Vaalwater Police, together with other disciplines, launched this combined operation on Wednesday 7 February to root out crime in the area.

Maj Genl Jan Scheepers, Acting Provincial Commissioner, urged communities to continue working with the police to remove drugs from the streets.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Modimolle Magistrate’s Court on a charge of dealing in dagga.
