Maname to represent ANC in by-election

The Bela-Bela branch of the ANC has finally nominated Spa Park’s Boetie Maname as its candidate in the hotly-contested Ward 9 by-elections scheduled for next Tuesday 17 July.

The well-known political activist would face off in the battle for the minds and souls of the ward’s voters, against the DA’s Eddie Aschendorf, and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) youthful firebrand, Andreas Mwambo.

Mwambo, of Namibian parentage, said the EFF was “very much” ready, as did Aschendorf.

Bela-Bela EFF co-ordinator, Sello Moswoeu, said the EFF’s democratic processes made it possible for Mwambo, a resident of Vingerkraal, to be elevated to the face of the party ahead of the by-elections.

He said Mwambo qualified to stand for the EFF as he met the requirements such as South African citizenship.

On Monday 9 July, Mwambo said he was doing door-to-door rounds with his lobbyists in Vingerkraal and Masakhane.

Mwambo is a South African-born young man, whose parents hail from Namibia.

Aschendorf said he was pounding the sidewalks in Spa Park, Jinah Park and also Masakhane.

The ANC in Bela-Bela indicated that Paarl would focus much of his campaign in Spa Park and Masakhane.

Spa Park-based businessman Arschendorf, has been announced as the face of the DA to retain the ward vacated by a party councillor earlier in the year.

The Waterberg Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has announced Thursday 12 July as the day for the signing of the code of the electoral conduct at Blaauwbosch Primary School in Masakhane.

Ward 9 became vacant after the resignation of DA Councillor Kobus Van der Merwe, who has relocated to George in the Western Cape.
