Their elation for winning the tournament and the news that they would be representing South Africa at the Olympic Games, was short-lived when the allocation of the twelve competing teams was announced.

Before South Africa can line up for the medals ceremony they will have a tough bullet to bite as they were drawn in Pool A and will compete against New Zealand, Ireland and the English Roses.

Tristan Leyds one of the kingpin players in the team said after the Monaco Tournament: “We have some pretty special youngsters in our team. They made the nation proud.

The Olympics is the biggest sporting event in the world and we are going to do our level best for South Africa.”
