KFC’s Add Hope initiative spreads goodwill for needy children

The KFC’s Add Hope campaign benefited a total of 155 children in Bela-Bela working in tandem with the NGO Stadspoort, which received R103 000 for distribution to the needy.

KFC donated the money to the organization to help more than 200 children.

Customers have been encouraged to volunteer R2 for every meal purchased, money meant to be passed on to various charities.

The Stadspoort collective is known for distributing food parcels and clothing, as well as offering emotional support to families in Bela-Bela over the years.

Some of their Bela-Bela beneficiary organizations include Kutlwelo Bohloko Crèche with a total of 65 children, Sizango Thando Crèche with 70 children, and Jeanine Alberts Spa Park Crèche with
20 children.

“This is the fourth year of partnership with KFC Add Hope, and it’s one that has afforded us to help change lives, and give much-needed support in our community,” said Margaretha Alberts,
chairperson of Stadspoort.

“We thank all customers who have gone the extra mile by donating R2, and thus adding not only hope, but sustenance to so many.

“Stadspoort is just one of the 143 NGOs which KFC Add Hope supports. The initiative, almost 10 years old, feeds more than 120 000 children with nutritious meals daily, and has raised more than R492 million (nationwide) to date,” Alberts said.

The KFC Public Affairs Director for Africa and Add Hope champion, Thabisa Mkhwanazi, said the success of Add Hope lies in the incredible support from customers.

“We still have a long way to go in turning the tide on hunger and malnutrition in South Africa. Statistics SA shows that 51% of South Africans are living in poverty, most of whom are
children,” Mkhwanazi added.

Add Hope is an initiative started in 2009.
