He was identified from among a total of 500 nominees nationwide.

At the age of 23, Kekana is the youngest nominee in the history of the awards.

The #100KidsToVarsity executive committee member, Goitseone Ngobese, said the local NGO collective was excited that the broader organization also received a category nomination.

The grouping was nominated as a finalist in the 2018 Institute of Risk Management South Africa (IRMSA) awards rising to the top five nominees from a total of 200 entrants.

The names of the winners were scheduled to be unveiled at a gala dinner to be held at a venue and date yet to be determined.

The awards, according to Ngobese, were in recognition of individuals and groups who brought about significant change within their respective communities.
