The giant-killing machine that is Baroka FC was slowly reawakening after the Ba-Kgaga stunned CAF African Champions title-holders Mamelodi Sundowns FC in a Telkom Knockout fixture.

Baroka walloped Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 against all odds, to advance to the semi-finals of the lucrative competition.

Soccer followers in Limpopo and nationwide still have memories of the year 2011 when Baroka sent Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs FC and Moroka Swallows FC packing from the multi-million rand
Nedbank Cup.

The Limpopo team was at the time campaigning in the lower third-tier Vodacom League, now known as the ABC Motsepe League.

Baroka FC has since been drawn to meet another Gauteng outfit, Bidvest Wits FC, in the semi-finals scheduled for the weekend of 24 to 25 November.

The other semi-final fixture is the biggest of them all, the Soweto Derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.

In the ABSA Premiership, Baroka FC have an away date with Golden Arrows FC at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday, 10 November.
