Political activists from across the province gathered at the local multipurpose centre for a memorial service for the late Water and Environmental Affairs Minister Edna Molewa.

Molewa was born and bred in Bela-Bela, where she started a long political career.

ANC heavyweights, including among others, ANC National Working Committee member, Mmakoma Makhurupetje, the party’s provincial deputy chairperson, Florence Radzilane, and provincial exco members, Phophi Ramathuba, Nandi Ndelani and Mavhungu Leruli, graced the occasion.

Bela-Bela Chief Whip Hendrietta Ledwaba, speaking on the sidelines of the memorial service, traced back memories of how she was personally groomed by the late Minister.

Many others in Bela-Bela remember the days when Molewa worked closely with the Bela-Bela Local Council Speaker, Zacharia Moeletsi.
