Rapotokwane’s Qualitho FC has advanced to the regional leg of the Nedbank Cup, after outshining its opponents during the knockout stages.

The team first had to defeat Diesel N Dust FC of Bela Bela before reaching the finals, sending it packing from the cup tournament with a narrow 1-0 score. In the finals, the Rapotokwane side
crushed the hopes and dreams of Mookgophong soccer lovers, after eliminating the newly-promoted Barcelona FC with a 2-0 drubbing.

Mookgophong Barcelona FC is yet to start its campaign in the Waterberg SAB Regional League, after gaining promotion from the lower Mookgophong Local Football Association.

The Mookgophong team’s journey to the Nedbank Cup final with Qualitho FC was characterised by a walkover victory against Boys 2 Men FC, and a 3-1 win on penalties against Modimolle Terrors FC, following a 1-all draw in regulation time.

Modimolle Terrors FC looked set to advance to the next stages of the tournament after eliminating across-town arch-rivals Modimolle Troublemakers FC, with a narrow 1-0 triumph, but at the end
of the day it was not to be.

Qualitho FC, which is now the Stream A winner, was scheduled to take part in the regional preliminary stages of the Nedbank Cup, which would also be featuring PJ Stars FC of Mokopane (Stream
B) and Palala Giant Killers FC of Lephalale (Stream C).

This competition will give Palala Giant Killers FC a second chance to make the region proud, after failing to gain promotion to the higher third-tier ABC Motsepe League.

Palala Giant Killers emerged Waterberg’s SAB League champions at the end of last season, but were beaten during the provincial play-offs.
