Sports stars bring home awards

Sports stars from across the Waterberg did the region proud on the occasion of the 2018 Limpopo Sports Awards held in Polokwane on Saturday 29 September.

Bela-Bela’s Kamplits Volleyball Club coach, Thabo Molokomme, emerged as Coach of the Year, while team manager, Michael Makhubela, won the Special Excellence Award.

Another MEC’s Special Excellence award went to Softball International umpire, Phuti Kgomo, while Softball SA President and Limpopo Sports Confederation Treasurer, Mashilo Mash Matsetela, won the Sports Administrator of the Year Award.

Other categories included Sports Team of the Year, Sportsman of the Year, Journalist of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, School Team of the Year, as well as Developing School Team of the Year.

On a slightly different level, sports personalities in attendance were nudged to support – in person – the campaigns of Polokwane City Football Club, Black Leopards FC and Baroka FC during
their Premier Soccer League fixtures.
