Premier promises 21 000 jobs

All five districts of Limpopo, among these the Waterberg, stood to benefit in terms of the job opportunities on offer.

Limpopo Premier Stan Mathabatha on Monday 1 October announced that the province would by March next year, create an estimated 21 000 job opportunities.

Limpopo provincial spokes-person, Phuti Seloba, said the Peoples’ Republic of China had recently committed an investment of R140-billion into the province.

He said as far as the announcement by the premier was concerned, all five districts of Limpopo, among these the Waterberg, stood to benefit in terms of the job opportunities on offer.

It has been reported that Pre-mier Mathabatha had said the investment from mainland China would resource the province in terms of the special economic zones project.

He added that the development will eradicate poverty and advance a better life for resi-dents while offering opportu-nities for businesses as well.

China had in recent weeks committed almost R200 billion in investments in the broader South Africa, including loans to Eskom and Transnet.

Rising youth unemployment trends had been of particular concern to President Cyril Ramaphosa, Mathabatha and the broader South African political and economic leadership.
