Emerging entrepreneurs in Modimolle were equipped with the knowledge and information on how to make it in business.

Emerging entrepreneurs in Modimolle were equipped with the knowledge and information on how to make it in business.

The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) together with the South African Youth Council (SAYC) facilitated the programme, which was held at Phagameng Beehive Centre in Modimolle on Tuesday 14 August.

SAYC projects manager Liberty Ndlovu said the programme was part of the assessment process, which would be carried out in all nine provinces in partnership with the Transport Education
Training Authority (TETA).

“We are here to assess where the SMME’s are based, with an intention to structure a training process that will empower them. The aim is to help them register their companies, and to also move those that are registered to a point where they are operational,” he said.

He also indicated that those that were operational would be assisted to access funding, and also tackle the challenges that may be preventing them from expanding further.

Ndlovu said by growing their small businesses, these young entrepreneurs would be able to create employment opportunities and further inspire others to work even harder.

NYDA outreach officer, Takalani Madala, provided the aspiring entrepreneurs with the necessary information on where to start, and what is needed when applying for assistance, including
applications for funding.

Madala enlightened the aspirant entrepreneurs that unregistered businesses could apply for grants of a maximum R10 000, while fully-registered companies could access funding of up to R200 000,
depending on the needs and abilities of the company.
