Jimmy Kekana has a heart of gold

Mookgophong-based EFF’s PR Councillor, Jimmy Kekana, distributed food parcels to 150 senior citizens during an event at Mookgophong Community Hall on Saturday 4 August.

The local Ward 10 councillor spoke at length about the challenges facing the Modimolle-Mookgophong Local Municipality, among these recurrent threats by Eskom to switch off power supplies, due to arrears owed to the bulk electricity supplier by the municipality.

Senior citizens in attendance sang praises for Kekana, some daring that he was the first councillor in the area to plough back to the community out of his own pocket.

EFF Ward 10 secretary, Abitha Moagi, said the main objective of the food parcels was to recognise the pensioners’ continued support for the EFF during local government elections.

“The turnout and support at the event showed that the councillor is indeed a true leader and that he really does work together with his community. It is very rare to see a leader doing
something for charity from his own salary,” Moagi added.
