MEC Onica Moloi hauled over the coals

Flamboyant and controversial Limpopo MEC for sports, arts and culture, Onica Moloi, was expected to be hauled over the coals to explain herself as to the manner of her recent resignation.

Flamboyant and controversial Limpopo MEC for sports, arts and culture, Onica Moloi, was expected to be hauled over the coals to explain herself as to the manner of her recent resignation.

In recent weeks Moloi attracted the attention of social media all-round, after she announced her resignation via Facebook.

Her actions have now got the wrath of the ANC in Limpopo, which said in a statement it viewed in a “serious light” the manner in which she conducted herself.

“It is of serious concern that she handled herself in a manner that undermined the integrity of both the organization and the government,” ANC Limpopo provincial secretary, Soviet Lekganyane, said in the statement.

He said the ANC remained a home to “all the people of our country”, and that members who felt aggrieved in whatever way, were expected to use the available channels to raise their concerns.

“The ANC had expected a cadre of her calibre to have handled the matter differently and better, having risen within its ranks, first serving as an employee of the ANC caucus in the Legislature, (and) later deployed as a member of provincial legislature and then as member of executive council,” the statement continued.

Lekganyane said the ANC planned to engage with Moloi further on this matter.

“She remains a member of the Limpopo legislature,” he said.
